I think I'm a Christian - Sunday

With a bit of luck you'll recall what my plan about reading the book last night was. I planned to get to chapter 6 and stop so as to get some sleep. Instead I had a "gut feeling" as it were that I should carry on reading. At about 0300 this morning (that's close to five hours after blogging last night) I finnished the book and I'm very glad I read it all the way through. Firstly because I feel it's helped me in my journey to becomming a Christian, how it's helped or what it's done I don't know, heck, I'm not actually sure it has, it's just a gut feeling. The second reason is that it's proved something (more later) and the third is that the look on the faces of people at Church was excellent. The morning service was about juggling so many different things in your life and where everything goes. I feel that it's very very applicable at my current time as I've got a lot of demands on my time. After the service we all went around to the Hackers for lunch. It was a most most delicious lunch (lasagna, well, that's what my spell-checker says) and I even managed to force down some greens (broccoli of all things). Afterwards we played some games, most notably maffia. The first game I was the storyteller (Game Master under a different name) and in the second I was killed off in the first night by the Maffia so didn't get to ever actually participate. I was planning on getting Jo and Lizzie back tomorrow (they were the Maffia that game) but I'll have to suffice for just Jo as Lizzie is gonig to a party. During our time at the Hackers I managed to sustain a friction burn on the carpet just under my right knee-cap. It's just started hurting a little and I'm not overly keen on the sensation. For evening tea we all went around Phoebe's house and had some stuff. We then sung along to Songs of Praise (there's something about 12 - 18 students singing in a small room that's always funny). This was at about 1700, for those that have a vague grasp of maths (hopefully most of you) you'd be interested to note that the Friday-Saturday night I got 5 hours of sleep and last night I got about another five. By all respects I should have been half-asleep by this point of the day, yet, I was full of energy. We return to the second thing about the book. When I had a "gut feeling" I presumed that it was from God and that he wished me to carry on reading. I had faith that he would solve the problem of me having no sleep, in the story of the book he'd already done such miricles as giving a Bible to a person, allowing said person to walk out of several ambushes as if he were invisible and many smaller "coincidence" type things. How would a small thing like "Teifion needs a few more hours of sleep" be a problem? It appears it wasn't a problem and that God was happy to grant it to me, it's 2200 and I'm easily awake enough to do the last little bit of coursework. Again, I'd prayed that God would intervene to allow me to do the coursework if I put him first and as it says in the bible (roughly) that God wants you to lean on him. Well, I leaned and he's supported. The Church evening service was about the Da Vinci Code. It's a several part "series" as such about the book and it's very anti-christian way. However, I'm almost laughing at the book. At the start it claims that a list of stuff is completely factual, some of it would pretty much remove the Christian faith, if it were true. There's some famous art gallery in France called the Loove (yes, it's spelt differently but I don't know how). Dan Brown states that his description of it's architecture is all factual. I almost laughed when I found out the following things he'd lied about on this to make a better story. 1) The triangle thing outside it has apparently got 666 triangles, turns out he miscounted and it's got 673 or something close to that, but not 666. 2) He puts a room where there isn't one 3) He puts a balcony where there isn't one 4) He puts in some stuff about some aincient grounds there, turns out there's no evidence at all for it. I'm looking forwards to the rest of the series on this. After the service I walked home with Lorna and Brierley. I talked to them about Christianity and that though I logically believe everything, see I am a sinner, am sorry about it and want Jesus in my life. I have no emotional feeling about it. Truth be told that's a little different now (I think it may have been the book I read). Brierly told me that if that's the case, she'd say that I'm a Christian and Lorna sort of confirmed it. So, I therefore think I am now a Christian, though I don't yet know Jesus.

Coincidence
The lack of sleep thing isn't the first thing I've prayed about. I've been thinking about Christianity a lot recently, more and more and more. I think the "solid thought" as such started somewhere in the Easter Holidays and over time grew "solid-er". I prayed for God to show himself in some small way, perhaps food. I found myself having the oppertunity to get free food more than usual. I realise how easy it is to call that a coincidence. I certainly thought it might be, as such I figured that I should as such "see where this road goes". I kept thinking and slowly it's just all come together and I decided that I'd like to be a Christian.

Ty!! If you've accepted Jesus into your life as your saviour and have repented of your sins and strive to follow God for the rest of your life then you most certainly ARE a Christian!!!! And therefore you DO know Jesus - its just takes time to get to know Him better and to grow in Him!!! Im so so happy for you! Your life will never be the same again!!!!! :-D

A lot of churches are talking about the Da Vinci Code. I find the whole situation kinda silly. In my opinion you need to read the book for what it is, a good story. That is really all it is. Then again, that is just my opinion.

I found the Da Vinci Code a good read. And Dan Browns other books are also great reading - especially in the train on the way to ork etc. I don't know what all the fuss is about regarding what he has said - he is writing FICTION. That by it's very name indicates that it is not to be taken seriously - much like the Famous Five (or was that true? ;-)

Free choice has a great part to play in eventual outcomes and being in the right place at the right time is also part of what many call ‘luck’.

It is good to pray, but don't go down the road where you treat God like a slot machine - just asking for stuff is a sure way to eventual dissapointment when or if he doesn’t grant you something that you feel you need. (Have a listen to Garth Brooks song - Unanswered Prayer)

It is great to see you seeking Christianity and remember that the relationship with God is a two way thing – receiving and giving.

:-)

Woo! I am much excited and happy after reading todays blog Teifion woo!

It is encouraging to hear how, even though it might seem small and coincidence like, God does give signs and answer prayer.

There are many things wrong with the Da Vinci Code.

The thing that upsets me the most is that its fiction but written in a way that makes it look fact, and so thats how people take it.

Exactly what I was trying to say. At the start of the book it says that the following is Factual, when it clearly is not. I in no way am saying it's a bad read, just that it's not accurate.
